Why did Britain join with the USA to invade Afghanistan in 2001 and Iraq in 2003?

Was it to find Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) or was it for some other strange reason?

Assuming the plan was to find WMD it failed as there were none.

But what plan of compaign had been thought out? Clearly it was discovered that the WMD did not exist but it would seem that no proper plan had been drawn up or thought out properly.More importantly what would the exit strategy be and indeed was there an exit plan?

Firstly before you invade you need to have an exit strategy.

Before committing troops and human lives to a war unless you are a war monger you must have a very good exit plan. If you do not then you are committing your country and their brave soldiers to an undetermined length of conflict with unknown casualties and loss of life.

If this was intended to be Blair's defining moment there can be no doubt that it was a total failure with implications for this country which will run on for many years in the cost of human life.

Before one commits troops to battle clearly any sensible person would naturally wish to cover all the bases. That is basic common sense is it not?

It would be your responsibilty to make sure that the Army had all the proper equipment to do the job properly and safely.

As but one example you would not commit troops with out ensuring that they had the proper armoured plated vehicles and not simply the snatch Land Rover's which were designed for Northen Ireland and built to run on a concrete road not in the desert.

Again you would ensure that they had Helicopters that were properly equipped for example available with winches so they could lift casualties from the ground, with out having to land in a mine field. You would believe that this would be an essential requirement wouldn't you?

Very sadly Corporal Mark Wight died and the Oxford coroner blamed his death to a lack of equipment and he stated that those responsible for allowing such a situation to occur should "hang their heads in shame". Clearly Gordon Brown and his Labour Government need to hold their heads in shame.

With a Helicopter that has a winch he and his comrades could have been lifted from the ground. On 14 January 2008, the Guardian Newspaper reported that Wright might have been saved if the British Army had been provided with adequate numbers of winch-equipped helicopters. Unfortunately most winches had been withdrawn due to a fault in a sub-system which meant that Wright and his fellow comrades had to wait over five hours before being evacuated by a US Blackhawk Helicopter.

This makes me very angry to think that courageous and brave young men from the Army should lose their lives because of lack of equipment!!!. Gordon Brown was the Prime Minister at that time (2008) I think he is one that should hold his head in shame. After all he is the man that told the Chilcott enquiry that funding to the armed forces had increased in real terms every year but he had to withdraw that statement as in fact they had only increased in cash terms. Yet again he got it wrong.

Now if I was going to invade or occupy a country I would use my brain before commiting my self and of course I would involve all members of my cabinet including the Chancellor of the Exchequer who claims he was igniored and never consulted.

The one person in the Government who should be involved would have to be the Chancellor of the Exchequer who at the time was ex PM Gordon Brown but as usual he denies any involvement or takes any responsibility. I guess he was hiding in his bunker trying to invent mores stealth taxes!

I am not speaking with the benefit of hindsight as this is glaringly obvious to a 12 year old chess player. You do not throw all your pieces into a chess game with out some thought. You make careful opening moves and place your pieces in the right places as you develop both your defence and attack. It's called having a strategy!

When all of this was going on where was the finacial guru the ex Chancellor of the Exchequer Brown the man of no more "Boom and Bust"? He has stated that he was not involved or in deed took no part in the decision making process. How could this be? Surely he would have to fund the war effort would he not?

Clearly any half sensible Chancellor would have insisted on knowing about any potential committment least voters would say he failed in his job.

There is no doubt that Brown completely failed in this and he bottled out of doing his job properly ensuring that he was kept fully advised over Blair's intentions over the Iraq War.

It seems to me that the Labour party can no longer be trusted as they have completely lost their moral compass.

History speaks clearly as in Blair's first six years as Prime Minister he had ordered British troops into battle, some five times more than any other Prime Minister in British history.

The conclusion that I have to form is that Blair is a War Monger
