Loopholes Allow Migrants To Take UK Jobs

Tens of thousands of migrant employees will fill UK jobs depite an annual cap being introduced.

A yearly cap will come into force in April 2011.

However the cap will not be applied to any foreign employee who is already in Gt Britain.

This will also apply even if they leave their job and change their visas.

Employers wlll still be able to bring in foreign staff who earn less than a planned salary cap as long as they are rotated every year.

The new system will provide for those who have key skills and where a shortage exists of UK employees to allow them to work in Gt Britain.

The effectiveness of the new regulations are somewhat doubtfull, to say the least, as the immigration watchdog has advised that officials are not dealing properly with migrant workers who no longer have the right to stay in the UK.

The government have said that there will be an annual cap of 21,700 starting from April 2011 for workers from outside of the Economic Union.

An allowance of 4,200 will be due for April 2011 with 1,500 each month following.

It is understood,however that a migrant employee who already has the right to stay wiil be exempt from the limit even when they come to renew their work permit or change employment.

As you would expect there will be no limit in respect of the "heavy hitters" such as lawyers,bankers and those who are earning more than £150,000 per annum.

Only those who earn in excess of £40,000 per year will be allowed to remain in Britain for up to some five years.

This is very welcome news as the previous Labour government of which the new leader Ed Miliband was a cabinet member made great claims about creating jobs but these went to immigrant workers.
