Miliband has called the decision by the Liberal Democrat's to form a coalition with the Conservative party as a "tragic mistake" and suggests that they should join forces with the Labour party on matters of common interest.

I really am very puzzled what exactly he thought could have happened as an alternative. His Labour party failed to agree a Coalition with the Liberal Democrats and one wonders if they did really try?

Lets face the truth what did Labour have to offer the Lib Dems? Was it their failed economic mastery, a totally failed foreign policy and a Brown/BlaIr legacy of brave British soldiers being sent to a war theatre with out proper funding or equipment?

The word forces reminds me of Alistair Darling's description of the "forces of hell" being unleashed to brow beat him by none other than Ed Miliband's predecessor and financial guru Gordon Brown who stated that in the House of Commons that he "saved the world"!.

The real tragic mistake was having a Labour Government for the last 13 years with a Chancellor of the Exchequer who for ten of those years had pulled the wool over the eyes of the voters untill his errors and stealth taxes started to catch him out. What was his favourite budget saying "No more boom and bust" and then he took us into the biggest boom and bust in living memory and the biggest deficit in the G20.

Some of of the serious mistakes were:-

Selling of more than half of the UK Gold reserves at its lowest market price in twenty years. In so doing they announced to the world their plans in advance thus depressing the market price. The loss to the UK at todays prices would be a touch under 10 Billion sterling.

Cancelling the ability of pension funds to reclaim income tax on their quoted dividend income. In so doing Gordon Brown destroyed the UK pension industry and struck a mortal blow against the ordinary working man.

Stiching the country up for PFI projects where the costs keep rising out of all proportion to what the actual cost should be.

Commiting Gt Britain to a war in Iraq looking for weapons of mass destruction that did not exist with out the required UN resolution.

Starting a second war in Iraq whilst still at war in Afghanistan and having no real plan as to the future Government of Oraq or in deed an exit plan. Tony Blair appeared to be acting as Gearge Bushs' lackey!.

Not equiping the brave troops of the British Army properly.

Against this back ground Ed Miliband has appealed to disaffected Liberal Democrats to help him stop the Coalition's spending cuts stating that he was prepared to work with them as he put it "in Parliament and outside it".

In a speech at the Fabian Society Miliband confirmed what we all already know that his party had made errors. He acknowledged that Labour had lost the trust of the voters by failing to properly regulate and supervise the Banks.

He extended a pipe of peace to any unsettled Lib Dem MP's to combine forces and vote with Labour against the abolition of the education maintenance allowance on Wednesday 19th January 2011.

At the same conference Simon Hughes the deputy leader of the Liberal Democrats advised his party that they should "resist the blandishments" of Ed Miliband.
